China assists basketball

China is ready to assist the Fiji Basketball Association.  Ambassador Han Zhiqiang made this revelation while donating sporting goods to the FBA at the Fiji Prisons Bure yesterday. He said they were pleased to be assisting the association and they are glad to be making a valuable effort in promoting basketball in Fiji. “We are more than happy to offer assistance to enhance this game and we will continue to do our best to support you in whatever way we can do,” Zhiqiang said.

Prisons and Police commissioner Brigadier-General Ioane Naivalurua who is also the FBA president said that they were honoured. “This is about development in Fiji and for its future generation and is in line with the government’s plan,” he said. Zhiqiang said they support government’s plan as basketball has played an important role in changing the lives of people.

He was referring to what Brigadier-General Naivalurua shared that basketball changed the lives of those living in Raiwaqa, considered as one of the worst suburbs in Fiji. Brigadier-General Naivalurua also said that the national team is gunning towards retaining their title at the Pacific Games.
