Boston White keeps unbeaten run

BOSTON White proved why they are the defending champions of the Raiwaqa Super League Basketball competition when they thrashed USP 55-28 at Ed's Court in Raiwaqa yesterday.

Laced with former national under-19 reps, Boston White maintained its unbeaten streak and now lead the points table. Another reason for their move to the top of the table was their 35-22 victory over Warriors on Wednesday night.

Competition official Peniasi Kainamoli said the last year's Most Valuable Player award winner Esala Banuve was once again the standout player on the court for the Boston White team.

"He (Banuve) always impresses and today (yesterday) was no different," he said. "Being defending champions, Boston White have a reputation to live up to and that is exactly what they are doing. "USP is a young and upcoming side and they proved to be no match for Boston White."

Meanwhile, the Raiwaqa Masters lost their first match of the season when they went down to MacPacers 19-30.

The veterans of the sport were a huge threat to Boston White and could still face the defending champions in the final at the end of the season.

Bryce bounced back from their loss to Boston White to defeat Mighty Mights 23-14, Golden Bati thrashed Westy Stripes 91 42-18 and Dynamic Redz won by default over Lady Birds.

Meanwhile, the match between Mystics and Chosen in the women's competition was postponed to Wednesday night. "Players from both teams have family and personel commitments so they would play on Wednesday night."

Matches were still in progress at Ed's Court when this edition went to press.
