Special Schools Program resumes

Basketball Fiji's partnership with Fiji's Paralympics committee resumed on the 25th September, 2009 and will be ongoing until the 27th October. Basketball Fiji's development officers continue the conduction of basketball clinics with the Special Schools in particular within the Suva area. The aim of the Special Schools Program is promote and provide students with the opportunity to learn and participate in official basketball games. Basketball Fiji is a federation committed to the expansion of the sport in the country and is proud to be associated with Fiji's Paralympics Committee whose goals are to increase and improve the quality of life of people with disabilities by increasing the number of quality Sports Program they participate in. The Fiji Paralympics Committee has organised a Matua Sports Festival Extravaganza which is scheduled on the 27th- 30th October, 2009. A National Special Schools Basketball Tournament will be part of the program which officials from Basketball Fiji will be on hand to organise the running of the tournament.  In lead up to the event Basketball Fiji’s development officers are conducting skill seasons every Friday of the week from 1pm to 3pm at Indian College basketball courts with Gospel School of the Deaf and we hope to have more schools join the program in the weeks to come.
