School league to improve

FIJI basketball development officer Laisiasa Puamau is expecting an improved game in round two of the Twisties sponsored Suva Primary School Basketball league today at the Vodafone Arena.

Puamau was impressed with last week's performance but highlighted areas of improvement which they have worked on during the past few days. "We have visited schools during the week days and they are preparing very well for another good round." "I'm hoping the players will do the basics right on the field and fully understand the interpretation of the rules during the game," Puamau said. He said schools had been busy through out the week, polishing their moves as they build up to another exciting round.

In the feature game today, Veiuto Primary School takes on Latter Day Saints in the under 14 category. Puamau said the game would be an exciting one as the teams have their own styles. "Veiuto have tall girls whom they can use to beat the opposition but I'm not ruling LDS out. They have skillful players in the team who have played basketball for quite some time," he said.

Puamau singled out the International School U10 side as the force to reckon. ISS organised an internal inter-house competition to help players lift their performances. The league starts at 1pm at the Vodafone Arena today.
