"This is definitely a chance of a lifetime and having the opportunity to continue playing basketball in the number one basketball country in the world is a blessing," Korovou said.

Korovou attends the Missouri Western State University where she studies Business, majoring in Finance and plays for Western in teh MIAA Conference tournament.

Before moving to the US, Korovou spent three and a half years in New Zealand on a netball scholarship at Saint Kentigern College in South Auckland.

The Former Natabua High School student said she would not have got the scholarship if it was not for her cousin Miliakere Koyamainavure.

"I had teh biggest help from my Mili. She and her brother, Mataika Koyamainavure, also go to Missouri Western State University," she said.

"Mili, suggested me to their coach Robert Edmisson as a post player, her watched my performance at the Pacific Games and a week later after I got back to NZ from PNG, I got a call from him saying he wanted me to start this fall.

"I had less than 25 days to prepare everything before school started. He actually called my parents first for their approval."

Leba's parents, Ilisapeci and Jimione could not have been more proud of their daughter as she said they are excited and happy for her.

Korovou started playing basketball at the age of 14 and since then has represented Fiji U20 at the FIBA U20 Oceania Tournament in 2010.

She then was drafted into the Oceania U20 All-Stars team and was a part of the Fijian womens team at the 2011 Pacific Games in New Caledonia and 2015 in Papua New Guinea
