Round Preview
Tathra v Bega
The winner goes on to next weekends preliminary final whilst the loser goes home in this make or break match-up between these two fierce rivals. The season series for 2015 leans towards Tathra with a two wins to one advantage although the Bombers have shown that they can match it with the Sea Eagles which was evident in their big win against Tathra during the middle stages of the season. There has been a gap between these two sides and the top two although come finals football anything is possible and the two clubs will be looking to make a long run to the final weekend of the season. Predicted Winner: Tathra.
Player to Watch– Scott Hay. Hay has been arguably Bega’s best player in 2015 and will be looking to have a big game this weekend.
Pambula v Merimbula
The top two for the majority of the season will meet to see who goes directly into the grant final in three weeks time. The reigning premiers and undefeated Panthers will be looking to progress to their second straight final although the going will be tough due to the recent rain and tough conditions. The tough conditions will effect both clubs with the Panthers and Diggers both accustomed to playing free flowing football on a week to week basis and it will take great skill if both clubs are able to implement this game plan this weekend. Predicted Winner: Pambula.
Player to Watch– Tom Hammond. With the conditions to be tough, if Tom can kick a bag of goals the Panthers will be in the final.
Under 16’s
Last years premiers the Narooma Lions will aim to secure their second straight flag in this years finals series with the club not having lost in season 2015. The undefeated Lions who have been extremely convincing in 2015 thanks to the coaching of Mick Clothier look like the team to beat as they have been operating on all cylinders to far. The Panthers will be looking to cause a major upset this weekend as they take on the Lions although it will be a tough ask for the Panthers as they take on the Lions in Narooma. The Bega Bombers will also be looking to cause an upset this weekend as the winless Bombers take on the Diggers in the first semi final. Merimbula will be confident going into this weekend s matches and will be looking to progress to next weeks preliminary final.
Predicted Winners: Narooma & Merimbula.
Under 13’s
The match-up between the top two in Merimbula and Pambula could be the most entertaining match of the weekend with the two sides extremely close during the season having played some cracking contests. Merimbula have the upper hand over Pambula having claimed the most recent victory in round 17. With under 13 Giants Academy players Kynan Baker, Flynn Cook and Jed Martyn on display this is shaping up to be a ripping game. In the first semi final Bermagui will travel to Narooma to try and keep their season alive for another week and the club will be confident having defeated the Lions three times this season. The Lions will gain a lot of experience from this finals series with the majority of their side set to stay within the under 13’s in 2016.
Predicted Winners: Merimbula & Bermagui.
Under 11’s
Unpredictable is the term most frequently used for the under 11’s season with every club beating and losing to each other. There hasn't been much of a gap between the top three with the Giants, Lions and Panthers all looking good to challenge for the silverware in three weeks. A young Bermagui side has battled brilliantly over the course of the season although they may find the going tough against Narooma this weekend as they look to progress to the preliminary final next weekend. In the major semi final, the BM Giants have been the front runner for the majority of the season although the Panthers have been playing some solid football towards the back end of the season. With the winner to progress straight to the grand final the stakes are high for these two young teams.
Predicted Winners: BM Giants & Narooma.
