Bermagui v Merimbula
This matchup is an intriguing match up with Bermagui coming off an impressive display against the Panthers where the Breakers pushed Pambula for a half of football. Whilst Bermagui will be coming in with confidence, the Diggers have had a week to recharge the batteries and look forward to getting back on the field. Merimbula play Dickinson Oval well, so look for the Diggers to look to dominate the Breakers. Player to Watch: Luke Moresi, Moresi had one for the ages last weekend when star midfielder showed that he is still one of the best in the game when he is firing. Moresi will be looking to emulate. Prediction: Merimbula by 40 points.
Tathra/Bega v Narooma
The Lions young guns were on display last weekend with Jeremy Sly, Liam Clothier and Jackson Taylor starring up forward for the Lions. Although this weekend will be a tough matchup for the Lions against the Sea Eagles, Narooma will go into this contest full of confidence. Tathra/Bega remain undefeated in 2016 and will be looking to extend their streak this weekend and being at home will be a huge advantage for Tathra/Bega. Player to Watch: Jeremy Sly, The Narooma 16 year old was dynamite up forward for the Lions last weekend kicking 8 goals in a dominant win by the club. Prediction Tathra/Bega by 32 points.
Women’s Division
This weekend sees a coupe of big games in the women’s competition. The first matchup this weekend, sees Tathra/Bega take on Narooma in what will be an entertaining contest. The Sea Eagles have shown that having youth, and speed is a key factor in gaining wins in 2016 with the young Sea Eagles outrunning their opponents. Narooma will be competitive in this matchup as they pushed Eden last weekend. In the second matchup Eden host Pambula in a local derby which could see another nail biter in the grade. After a close win last weekend against the Breakers the Panthers match could come down to the wire. Player to Watch: Stacey Duivestyne, Duivestyne has taken a large lead in the goal kicking race and will look to extend it this weekend. Predictions: Eden, Tathra/Bega.
Under 16’s
This weekend sees Bermagui host the Diggers at Dickinson Oval. The Diggers seemed a little flat last weekend against Bega/Tathra and will be looking to be at their best this weekend against the Breakers. With a number of players from both clubs participating in school football during the week this matchup may be who has the greater stamina. With a couple of senior players stepping into the seniors in 2016 as well as the 16’s the Breakers have two experienced pillars which they have built their squad around. Player to Watch: Chris Olsen, Bermagui, Stepping up into the 16’s in 2016 Olsen has taken a significant step forward in his development as a footballer looking comfortable within the under 16’s claiming plenty of tough football so far in the season. Prediction: Merimbula.
Under 13’s
The match of the round this weekend could be the under 13 matchup between the Bermagui Breakers and the Merimbula Diggers. The 2015 premiers have started clicking of late and this weekend will be a big test of how much they have improved when they take on the top of the table Breakers. The Breakers were dominant last weekend against Pambula and will look to continue their form. In the second match up Narooma will be looking to keep pace with the Breakers as they take on the Bombers. The Bombers have struggled in 2016 and will be looking to turn things around in the second half of the season and claim their first win.
The Bombers will be confident going into this weekends matchup with the Lions after a couple of good performances in the past two weeks. Although the Bombers didn't claim the four points, four points this weekend will go along way in claiming a finals spot. The undefeated Breakers take on the Diggers this weekend with their aim to remain undefeated. The Diggers come off the bye this weekend and will be looking to challenge the Breakers and inflict their first loss. In game three, the Panthers are looking to solidify their finals place against an Eden side keen for a win. Player to Watch: Finn Weatley, BM Giants. Prediction: Bega, Pambula & Bermagui.
