The Junior rep squads are set to take the field tomorrow in Nowra. Have a look as we preview each teams weekend!!
Under 16.5’s
The under 16.5 squad is shaping well ahead of their trip to Nowra this weekend. With a number of top age players and some stud bottom age players the Stingrays are setting their sights on claiming the 16.5’s title. With the boy to go up against the Shoalhaven and Illawarra juniors both two times over the weekend the team will definitely know where they stand at the conclusion of the weekend. The Friday night match against the Shoalhaven shapes as a crucial match with the Illawarra the strongest outfit in 2014. The Stingrays look extremely strong in the centre of the ground with great height at the centre clearances with Harrison Peters and Adam Wilson two strong ruckman who will give the skilful midfield first use of the ball. The skilful boys in the middle including last seasons best and fairest winner Zak Wilson, state team member Jai Reed and fellow lion Jamie Dufield will be vital in getting the ball in cleanly to potent forwards Luke Wiggins and Dylan Jordan. With plenty of depth all over the field it is hard to see where the Stingrays will lack the firepower to take it to the Shoalhaven and Illawarra juniors.
Team- Trent Little, William Hassan, Billy Bamford, Angus Kennedy-Carvalho, Joe Carton, Tom Fergusson + Adam Wilson (Pambula), Will Regan, Shane Gartside, Justin Burch, Dylan Jordan + Harrison Peters (Merimbula), Samuel Byrne, Nichola Carter, Jamie Dufield, Zac Martin, Liam Clothier, Zak Wilson, Jai Reed, Luke Wiggins + Samuel Hodge (Narooma) + Nathan Sebire (Eden).
Under 14’s
Last season the under 14’s were a relatively young and inexperienced team in Nowra although in 2015 the Stingrays will be looking to go close to the title with an older and more experience group of players. As well as having some of the leagues best 14 year olds the side boasts a number of players who come off winning the under 12 title in 2014 with leading Pambula players Flynn Cook and Kynan Baker leading the way. The side is in good hands with Glen Baker spearheading the team in what he is hoping is two championships in two seasons after last season under 12 title. With a number of great players like Jackson Taylor, Angus Tarpey, Billy Stubbs and Lawrence Davis playing in the under 16’s week to week the boys should feel comfortable and excel within the 14’s age group. A win in Friday nights match against the Central Coast will give the side confidence in going far in the carnival.
Team- Kynan Baker, Shannon Butterfield, Harry Jamieson, Jordan Chapple-Stroud, Kendall Mylan, Flynn Cook + Angus Tarpey (Pambula), Jak Howker, Max Geaghan, Jonty Dwyer, Tavita Wood, Ethan White, Harry Fergusson, Jedd Martyn, Billy Stubbs + Douglas Stubbs (Merimbula), Rocco Lagana + Ryan Shaw (Bermagui), Lachlan Brennan + Jackson Taylor (Narooma) + Lawrence Davis (Bega).
Under12’s
The under 12’s will be looking to go back to back in 2015 having claimed the title in 2014. The side that will take the field in 2015 will look a lot different to the team that took the field in 2014 with a numbers of the players going up into the under 14’s in 2015. Although this is the case some key members from 2014 will take the field in Ryan Holdsworth, Rayden Oliver, Thomas Hodge, Tom Kellar, Frank Puglisi and Cooper Noack will look to show their leadership and lead this young team to back to back titles. With the Narooma Lions having a good season in the under 13’s thanks to their junior players, this has been reflected in the team with six members making the team in 2015. This side will excel in the middle of the ground with a number of hard nosed players that will go in after the ball led by Thomas Hodge. Led by coach Doug Martyn the Stingrays will play attractive football with fans always loving junior football as we get an insight into the start of each players career.
Team- Scott Parsons, Ryan Holdsworth, Rayden Oliver, Frank Puglisi, Jake Puglisi, Campbell Moresi + Jonathon Harkins-McMahon (Bermagui), Will Kellar, Cooper Noack, Tom Kellar, William Seach + Otis Coyle (Pambula), Sam Wood, Matthew Leonard + Finn Sinclair (Merimbula), Thomas Hodge, Matthew Parker, Jack Westoll, Brandon Feledyk, Harrison Bromwich + Jake Mikolic (Narooma), Jack Kampman + Bill Sutherland (Bega).
