Round Preview
Bega v Merimbula
Due to the heavy rain throughout the week, the Bombers v Diggers fixture has been moved to Eden. This shaped to suit Merimbula more than the Bombers with home field taken from Bega and the slightly larger and wider ground suiting the Diggers play better then the Bega Showgrounds. Bega come off a morale boosting win over Bermagui whilst the Diggers will aim to bounce back after their second loss of the season against the Pambula Panthers. Look for this match to be the match of the round!
Player to Watch– Liam Wilkinson. If the Bombers have Wilkinson he can be a game changer due to his vast experience.
Narooma v Pambula
The Panthers remain undefeated in 2015 and there looks to be no slowing them down as they easily accounted for the second placed Diggers last weekend. The side has shown their class throughout the 2015 season and will be looking to carry that form into August and September. The Lions have been playing some decent football in the past weeks with a win over Bermagui and a tough match against the Sea Eagles with the game in the balance up until three quarter time. Narooma will continue to improve down the stretch but may not get the result this weekend against the Panthers
Player to Watch– Mitch Cameron. Cameron taught the Diggers a lesson last weekend booting 8 goals and being among the best on the day.
Bermagui v Tathra
Another crunch game for the Breakers this weekend as they fight to keep their finals hopes alive after a disappointing run of results. The Breakers will be looking to do better than when these two last played with the Sea Eagles running away 100 point winners. The going may be tough for the Breakers with Luke Moresi and Nick Lazzaro out for the contest and the Sea Eagles coming off the bye last week. After throwing Will Dickinson forward Tathra have had a great structure and results have shown.
Player to Watch– Bayden Pilbeam. The league convert has been superb for the Sea Eagles in 2015 roaming the wing and forward lines to great effect for the Sea Eagles.
Under 16’s
Junior football is back after the school holidays with a full card of matches. In the under 16’s Pambula travel to Narooma to take on the high flying Lions who will be looking to show that two weeks off hasn't effected their play and appetite for another four points. The Panthers will be looking to show the opposite tand that they have closed the gap on the lions. In the second match Bega will host Merimbula in Eden. The Bombers are closing in on their first win of the season and after the break this could be their best chance.
Under 13’s
Three big matches this weekend as the race for spots within the top four intensifies. Bega will host Merimbula in a match where Merimbula should claim all four points although the youthful Bombers side under Travis is starting to develop into a really good football team. Bermagui will aim to record their second win against the BM Giants and edge closer to the top sides whilst the Giants will be aiming to record their first win of the season on a soaked Dickinson Oval. Narooma will be looking to show how far they have come in 2015 as they take on the Panther at home. With a number of junior Lions taking the field for rep weekend they will be looking to take what they have learnt onto the field this weekend and gain a valuable four points.
Under 11’s
Narooma host a surging Pambula outfit this weekend and will be looking to stop them in their tracks as they were brilliant leading into the school holiday break. Hope ground advantage should suit the Lions as they look to go top. The Breakers will be without the Moresi boys this weekend and should make the Giants favourites going into this matchup. A win to Bermagui in this contest will see a scrample towards the end of the season for the finals make up.
