Round Preview
Eden v Merimbula
After a tough start to the season for the Eden Whalers the club will play their first home game of the season this weekend against a Diggers side that will be looking to bounce back from last weekends tough loss against Pambula. After a tough loss in their annual ANZAC clash Merimbula will be keen to get back on track with a win. Player to Watch: Scott Munday, Scott has been solid as a rock over a number of years for the Eden Whalers and will need to be at his best on the weekend. Prediction: Merimbula by 60 points.
Bermagui v Tathra/Bega
After the shock passing of Andrew Lemon the senior vice president of the Bega Bombers the Tathra/ Bega side will be wearing Bega jumpers on Saturday in remembrance of the club man. Due to this sad news the Tathra/Bega side will be looking to have a successful Bermagui side looking for their first win of the season. Player to Watch: Luke Taylor, Playing in his 100th game for Tathra last weekend, Bruza claimed the best on ground medal and has had a stellar start to 2016. Prediction: Tathra/Bega by 42 points.
Narooma v Pambula
After their first win of the season last weekend against Bermagui, Narooma are set for a big weekend against Pambula. The Lions have improved every weekend and will look to take the Panthers to 2 and 2 this weekend. With a temporary transfer pending for Scott Proctor to Wadonga Bulldogs the big question is will he play this weekend? If not it will be a big loss. Player to Watch: Jackson Taylor, The Narooma young gun is only 15 and with 5 goals on the weekend will only get better. Prediction: Pambula by 30 points.
Women’s Division
This weekend will see two great matchup’s in the women’s competition between Bermagui and Tathra/Bega and Narooma and Pambula. Tathra/Bega have started the season extremely strong with 3 wins from 3 playing some extremely successful and fast paced football. Bermagui got their season off to a winning start last weekend and will hope to continue their good form although will have to do so without coach Prue Davies due to holidays. Narooma will look to take the four points against Pambula this weekend. Both teams will be fresh having a week off last weekend. Player to Watch: Chenoa Lyons Mongta , Narooma. Chenoa has started the season well in 2016 and also starred for Narooma HS during the week at the Giants Cup. Prediction: Tathra/Bega & Pambula.
Under 16’s
Two good games are set for this weekend as the undefeated Panthers take on the Narooma Lions. The Lions may find the going tough if Jai Reed is unable to play this weekend although they still have enough talent to take it to the Panthers. In the other match this round only one team will remain winless with Bermagui hosting Bega/Tathra. Bermagui will be confident of gaining 4 points. Player to Watch: Cooper Carruthers, A new recruit for the Lions in 2016 has been huge in the ruck. Prediction: Pambula & Bermagui.
Under 13’s
The game of the round this weekend will be Narooma and Pambula with the winner to take second place. The Lions are undefeated so far in 2016 and have looked impressive against Merimbula and Bega/Tathra. The Panthers will aim to bounce back after a tough loss against Merimbula last weekend. Bermagui will look to continue their undefeated season this weekend against a young and developing Bega/Tathra side. Player to Watch: Bill Sutherland, been great so far in 2016. Prediction: Bermagui & Narooma.
Under 11’s
The Whalers will look for win number one this weekend against 6th place Merimbula at home with the club competing hard so far in 2016. They will take on an equally competitive Merimbula side. Bermagui will go in favourites against Bega/Tathra this weekend and will aim to remain undefeated whilst maintaining their impressive percentage. Win number 1 came last week for Bega/Tathra and will aim for a two in a row this weekend. In the final match Narooma will host Pambula. In what will be an important match in the race for the final four. Player to Watch: Beau Bennett, Merimbula. Prediction: Merimbula, Narooma & Bermagui.
