After a successful debut year last season, the Sharks are keen to sink their teeth into 2014, with the aim of continued growth in their juniors and keeping out of Division Three motivating them over the pre-season.
Number of teams this year:
1 senior Team
1 Senior Reserve Team
1 x Under 18 Team
9 junior sides
250 Auskick kids
Pre-season News:
Senior Pre Season has been fantastic.
Despite the extreme heat throughout the summer we have managed to have consistent 50’s training each session. Although our senior player Jessi Lampi, who won the Division Two Alan Smith Medal last year has departed to Yarraville Seddon Eagles, we believe we have filled the void with new recruits and players from last year. We have also been able to recruit some players with height, strength and speed which we probably lacked last year.
Expectations for 2014:
Further grow the club to ensure we become the club of choice in our area. This year we strive to be
more competitive against the heavy weights of Division Two and hopefully see us playing finals football. We have a plan within 5 years to play in Division One and we are doing all that we can to fulfill this aim, being it our second year in the league this season. To do this we need to ensure we stay in Division Two this year. To play in Division Three, will not only affect our goals but also our club.
Are there any new young players to look out for this season?
We have been able to recruit a number of new players to the club. Players from Richmond Amateur’s
and other local clubs in our area. Again the exciting thing we believe is our young core group from last year have one season of Senior Football under their belt which we can continue to build on this year together with our new recruits from other clubs.
Staff/coaching changes:
Nick Waddell remains our Senior Coach.
Assistant Senior Coach – Robert May
Matthew Stoodley becomes our Reserve coach this year after Rod Davis has taken a different role
Our inaugural U18’s coach is Sam La Chimia
