THE WRFL is now taking applications for anyone who is interested in contributing to the League’s various media platforms in 2016.
If you are completing a media degree, have an interest in footy and can meet deadlines, than this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Covering the western suburbs’ premier sporting competition, you can utilise the skills from your journalism/media degree and begin building a portfolio of published work as you take the next step in your media career.
As part of your role you will gain valuable, hands-on experience by interviewing coaches and players each week as well as generating new story ideas throughout the season.
Writers will be doing reports for the official WRFL Game Day Record which includes previews and wraps of the three senior divisions as well as the under-18 competition, news stories and feature articles throughout the year, with each story also featuring online to an audience of thousands.
As part of the role you will learn valuable skills throughout the season, with opportunities for you to also do live social media updates during games.
There is also an opportunity for budding photographers to join the media team.
The WRFL is looking for match-day photographers who can take photos of both the WRFL’s senior and junior competitions on weekends.
Please note, all positions are voluntary.
If you would like to get involved please contact Media and Communications Manager Kristen Alebakis via email at k.alebakis@wrfl.asn.au with a brief summary of your experience and examples of work, contact details and why you believe you would be a beneficial addition to our team or by calling 9315 5400 by February 19.
In return for your efforts, our reporters will get the opportunity to attend and report on a number of the league's special events and will be provided with full published copies of their work and professional references at season's end.
