With the seniors finishing in third place last season, new club President Craig Ryan says the Kangaroos are keen to improve in 2014 and have been working hard during the summer months to push for a top two spot.
Number of teams this year:
12 teams: Auskick , U9s, U10s, U11s, U12s, U14s , U16s , U18s, Reserves, Seniors + 2 x Super Rules teams
Pre-season News:
Busy. The seniors guys have been working hard since November and juniors returned to training in mid Feb, so everyone is keen to start the season.
Expectations for 2014:
The expectations on the senior group are high. We want improve on each season, and given that the seniors finished third and the reserves finished second last year, those expectations are going to require hard work to achieve.
Significant signings over the pre-season:
Brett and his team have been busy in the off season, as they always are. Over summer we recruited
Darren Haby & Jesse McLellan (Melton), Matty Smith (St.Albans), Liam Reeves & Aaron Edwards (ex-
Marby Park), we have also regained Jacob Koroneos (o/seas) for 2014 so the match committee are
confident we will again be a strong outfit.
Young players to watch out for this year:
We are fortunate to have some great kids coming through our senior ranks and so far this campaign it would be no surprise to see the likes of Jack Hilton, Abera Afewerk and Hamish Andrew start the season in the seniors and have an impact. The coaching staff have a high expectations of young Ben McInneny who was last season named a vice captain of the club.
Staff/coaching changes:
We will miss Jesse Smith who has taken the job on at Yarraville, so we wish him all the best with that
job. All other senior coaching positions remain the same.
