NPGHS 1st IV Taranaki Junior Sports Team of the Year

NPGHS Hawks, winners of the 2014 Women's Premier Grade, won the overall Junior Womens Sports Team award at the annual Sport Taranaki Awards function last night.

Its been an outstanding year for the team which includes winning the BBNZ AA Secondary School Nationals. Kayla Manuirirangi, Connie Poletti and Bayley Ransfield were all named in the tournament team. Kayla was awarded MVP of the tournament.

Earlier in the year, Kayla, Connie, Bayley and Bailey Martin won the inaugural 3 x 3 National Tournament. Kayla and Connie were selected to the NZ Women's U18 team which competed in the Australian State Championship Tournament.

Kayla and Connie's outstanding season earned them a nomination for Taranaki Junior Sportswomen of the Year. Coach Trent Adam was nominated for the Taranaki Coach of the Year.

Dane Brooks was also nominated for the Junior Sportsman of the Year award for the great year he had with the NPBHS Ist IV. Dane was named MVP of the Super 8 Tournament, selected to the Tournament team at the BBNZ AA Secondary School Nationals where the team came a credible 5th.

He played a key role for the Mountainairs earlier in the year and is part of the NZ Junior Tall Blacks team travelling to Fiji next week to participate in the Oceania Tournament.
