For services to basketball

Peter Murray is the only deaf person to become a level one referee in basketball.

He's been involved in the sport as a player and referee for the past 40 years and has officiated at all levels from secondary school level to national tournaments.

He has refereed internationally for the World Deaf Games several times, often paying his own way and taking unpaid leave from his job.

He is now an international referee educator for Deaf Basketball referees.

Murray represented New Zealand at the World Deaf Games in Washington DC in 1965.

That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand.
