ABOUT YOUTH GIRLS FOOTBALL
Catering for girls aged 13-18, AFL Victoria’s Youth Girls Football Competition emphasises fun, fitness and friendship in a family-friendly environment. It is a great sport to play and is managed by AFL Victoria and is supported by local councils.
There are many additional opportunities for talented Youth Girls to play representative football including interleague competitions.
There is also a large amount of Youth Girls representing Victoria at a national level. The Under 16 School Girls team is run by School Sport Victoria and is conducted as part of School Sport Australia’s National Football Championships. AFL Victoria selects an Under 18 Victorian team annually, who competes in the AFL’s Youth Girls National Championships.
The growth of Youth Girls competitions in Victoria makes evident the amount of love and passion teenage girls have to play Australian football.
