It was a fitting end to the under 18 Joss State Zone Trials with the Rebels finishing the tournament undefeated and the Northern Heat recording consecutive victories after a slow start to the event.
On the final day of the Coffs Harbour trials, the Rebels kicked off proceedings with a hard-fought eight-point victory over the Starz. At the other end, the Northern Heat finished on a high note after defeating the Pioneers and Pigeons.
The Starz were not discouraged by their close loss to the Rebels as they were able to back-up the match with a seven-point victory over the Stingrays. The Cats ran out their final game with a solid 25-point over the competitive Pioneers.
"The standard of play continues to improve as evident by the consistent performances of all teams across the three days," State Talent Manager Darren Denneman said.
"The program has grown extremely quickly over a short period of time and is a result of the consistent and positive participation of players, coaches, support staff and parents."
"We would like to thank the Joss group for their support of the State Zone Trials, the Coffs Harbour City Council Sports Unit and the many other service providers who assist with the professional running of the week."
