Nambucca Valley will start the 2010 season looking to translate their success last year in the Under 18 competition into more consistent showing in the Senior grade.
Club spokesman, Steve Schmidt had a bright view of last season.
"It was a great year obviously for the Under 18s, and we had a really positive end to the regular season with the Senior side," he said.
Despite the Senior side languishing down the ladder for the past few years, many at the club share a positive outlook for the upcoming season.
Enigmatic forward, Ray McGrath will continue on as Senior coach, whilst Heath Addison will stay on after his premiership success with the Under 18s.
A flow-on of Under 18 players to the Senior side should help the Lions in being more competitive against more-seasoned opponents. Kyle Cohen and Jed Ellis-Cuff are two of a handful of talented youngsters who should take their chance in the premier grade this season.
The club hopes to field an Under 18s, with some doubts over the presence of a Reserve grade side.
Schmidt says the loss of Justin Saker to Victoria and James Boatfield to university studies in Armidale should be counteracted by the return of some "old blood" and a few new recruits.
The Lions train at Willis St Oval, Macksville on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 6pm.
