North Coffs wins Tablelands Cup
The newcomers to the Tablelands Cup, North Coffs claimed a come-from-behind victory against the New England Nomads in the Final (Day 2 of the carnival).
Earlier in the day, New England had a four point victory over the Roos in their round-robin meeting, but couldn’t quite get over the line against them in the afternoon.
The Nomads lead at half-time in the final, but tired limbs seemed to tell as the Roos were able to move the ball freely for a period of the second half which saw them take the lead, and eventually claim the match 6.4 (40) to 5.1 (31).
In the other round-robin match played Inverell Saints had a comfortable victory against the Nambucca Valley Lions in their round-robin match. The two sides decided against playing again in the third-fourth place play-off.

Sawtell win nailbiter over Warners Bay
AFL football made a one-off return to Brelsford Park, with Sawtell getting over Warners Bay in a thriller, 14.12-96 to 13.15-93.
In a unique format, the game was played over six quarters. Sawtell were up by 25 points at the end of the fifth quarter before fatigue set in, from reports. Both sides were evenly matched and played a similar style- as shown by the sides each having nine goal-kickers.
The match was played in good spirit, but the competitive juices were well and truly running with Jack Gillingham ending with six stitches after a head clash, and last year's Best-and-Fairest, Mark Couzens taking a screamer.
Sawtell hope to make this an annual event.
Port had first trial game at home
Port Macquarie were due to have their first hit-out against Killarney Vale (from Newcastle), in Wauchope.
Results though are not known.
