Nambucca Valley sealed their berth in the finals with a resounding second-half performance to overcome the Coffs Swans at Fitzroy Oval.
With the match billed as a mini-Elimination Final which would see the victor finish in fourth spot, the Swans got the initial jump with Evan Duryea kicking five out his side’s seven first-half goals.
Jeff Reed also turned back the clock as the Swans took the momentum into half-time despite Nambucca Valley being able to stay in touch.
It was all the Lions in the second half, as the Swans experienced another fadeout. The Nambucca side were the more desperate and they asked more questions of the opposition’s defence in the third quarter despite failing to convert most of their chances in front of goal.
Wily veteran, Trent Baade ran amok in the midfield with the match on the line, with the forward line of Aaron Clarke and Ray McGrath functioning as well as it has all season.
In the end, the Swans had no answers and were unable to match the Lions potency around the ground.
The victory was an emotional one for Nambucca, as they progress to face off in another do-or-die clash against Port Macquarie next weekend.

It turned out to be another close contest between the Magpies and Kangaroos at Stuart Park, with this time, North Coffs coming from behind to snatch victory.
The match, initially, was tight in the clinches, as indicated with neither side able to gain a break in the first quarter.
The midfield combination of North Coffs challenged the Magpies, and they were rewarded with a half-time lead. Tom Campbell and Dean Funston, in particular, provided run and better ball use through the middle.
Port Macquarie responded with their best quarter of the day kicking five goals to gain a handy lead heading into the final break. Greg Conway and Matthew Lill took full advantage of Michael Kemp’s superiority in the ruck.
The match would have a final and definitive twist in the closing stages. North Coffs confirmed their current position as the second-placed side in the competition with a stirring comeback to finally prevail by three points.

Sawtell finished the regular season without a loss to their name after soundly defeating Grafton at Ellem Oval.
The Saints celebrated in style before their week off with a flawless first-half display. They racked up twenty-five scoring shots while restricting their opponents to just one goal on the pint-sized field.
An even display was highlighted by the ball use of Mark Couzens and Luke Matthews. Daniel Cullen was also strong in a half-back rebounding role.
The Saints had nine individual goal scorers, with Jack Gillingham and Ben Hooke, along with Matthews and Couzens, the leading goalkickers.
Grafton, in all, were kept scoreless for two quarters before managing two goals in the final quarter. By then, Sawtell had taken their foot off the gas with an eye on their clash in a fortnight’s time against North Coffs.
