COFFS Harbour may be one of Australia’s leading tourist destinations but the Sydney Swans aren’t here for a holiday.
With only three weeks to go until the team plays its first NAB Challenge match, the Swans are stepping their training right up in preparation for the upcoming AFL season.
Arriving Tuesday, the Swans will be hit the ground running with an intra-club practice match at Wednesday morning’s open session at C.ex Coffs International Stadium.
Thursday will see players in attendance at the Chamber of Commerce breakfast, visit schools around the region and conduct a free AFL Superclinic for local kids in the afternoon.
Swans coach John Longmire said the team is happy to be in Coffs.
"We came up to Coffs last year and loved our time here and thought it was a great spot to stay," Longmire said.
"We had a couple of really hard training sessions in front of the locals, which was terrific.
"We also got out and about and experienced a bit of what’s going on in Coffs and the boys also had a bit of free time which they enjoyed."
