C.ex Coffs International Stadium was a sea of five- to 12-year-olds eager to learn from the Swans players who were only too happy to attend
AFL NSW/ACT North Coast development coordinator Matt Crawley said there were 220 kids present to learn the skills of the game on Thursday, a marked increase on 12 months ago.
"I think we only had 70 kids last year, so to more than triple that was a fantastic result," Crawley said.
The Swans held two open training sessions at the stadium and Wednesday’s session saw the team go through a gruelling 60 minute intra-club match, followed by a half-hour of testing drills.
Coach John Longmire said the four-day camp was just what the team needed, as the season quickly approached.
"We came up here to make sure we got a really good match practice in on Wednesday," Longmire said. "It’s an important part of our program to come up here and play in the conditions that we did and I thought it was really good to see that."
Six Sydney Swans players will return to Coffs Harbour on February 10 and 11 for the Australia Post Community Camps
