Under 16s
North Coast 13.16-94 def. Northern Rivers 5.7-37
The Under 16s proved to be the match of the day and was a spectacle for those in attendance. The Northern Rivers improved noticeably on last year's performance and benefitted from extra experience as a team in the Gold Coast competition. The North Coast marginally extended their lead at every change in a physical yet highly skilled encounter. Jack Gillingham and Simon Taylor formed a strong combination in the midfield, with both adept to winning the contest ball and delivering well to an open forward line. Elliott Schmidt got the most opportunities in front of goal whilst Sam Turner was handy in the first half with numerous goal assists. Jack Campbell and Darby Pearce were others to relish the responsibility of giving the North Coast momentum by the way of centre clearances. The work rate and courage by both teams was breath-taking and something to behold. The North Coast eventually reigned supreme in yet another impressive team performance.
