Last week, a function was held, in which potential members of the new AFL North Coast Strategic Board met with current members of the Junior and Senior committees.
This function was a major success. It was great to see people in the same room talking and displaying their passion for the game and there was a general consensus that the potential for the game to grow on the North Coast would be enhanced by a new Board with a strategic focus.
The need for a "public face" from a marketing point of view has never been greater in a competitive environment.
There was close to ten potential board members in the room, more than what was expected or dreamed of, most interested in joining the Board. All were from different backgrounds but all have had some experience either playing the game or being involved in administration.
Favourable comments have been received since regarding the success of the meeting and there is a sense of enthusiasm as to the future direction of the game, with a lot being learnt on the night.
The Working Group will decide on the way to elect these Board Members with a decision to be made in the near future.
Thanks go to all in attendance, including Anne Williams and Shane McAloon for organising the function, as well as Chris Mintern for travelling to attend.
