North Coffs reversed the result from last year's Grand Final with a massive win over Sawtell.
The Anzac Day clash at the Coffs Coast Leisure Park was a one-sided affair from the outset. Sawtell were wasteful and kicked six behinds in the opening quarter, with the 'Roos getting a strong early lead with the help of Jordan O'Connor who was on song early.
Sawtell's preparations were hampered by the wet weather and by the fact they missed half a dozen senior players. Norths were dominant and took full advantage of the latitude offered by the Saints in the midfield. This was where they had a monopoly with Josh Drum and Brad Giri dominant in thrusting the side forward.
Luke Matthews and Mark Couzens tried valiantly to lift the Saints but lacked support as North Coffs wrapped up the contest by half-time. Go-to man, Ben Hooke started in the centre and moved between there and the forward line, but failed to have an impact on the match.
Star forward, Darren Funston kicked 10 goals and was strong on the lead. Sam Dawes was again strong floating around the ground and will again be prominent this season.
Lachlan McLean and Kirt Connolly formed a strong duo in the ruck and this was resemblant of the strength the Kangaroos possessed over the ground.
Admittedly, there is room for improvement for both sides. Whilst the Saints won't be panicking, coach, Russ Matthews knows there is a lot to work on if they are to defend their title.
