Whilst Geelong and St Kilda look early favourites for the AFL Grand Final, one thing is guaranteed- Coffs Harbour will be represented at the MCG on AFL Grand Final Day.
North Coffs Auskicker, Michael Lourens has been selected as a finalist in the NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year competition. Michael will now take place in AFL Grand Final celebrations, including presenting a premiership medallion to a player from the premiership team.
Michael is one of 22 finalists from around Australia. One of the 22 lucky Auskickers will go on to be named Auskicker of the Year, winning a Grand Final experience, $5,000 and Geelong superstar, Joel Selwood as his personal footy mentor for the 2010 footy season.
Michael was nominated by North Coffs Junior Club President, Shane Kelly who submitted the following application:
“Meet the most likeable, well mannered, kind, and considerate young leader who I have met for a long time. You wont forget his smile, his distinct diction, his professional appearance, and willingness to cooperate as well as assist. His love and dedication to the game of AFL is exemplary to his peers and focuses totally on mateship and 'the team thing'. Sure he enjoys his swimming but he counts the days until Auskick starts again. His skills improve by the week due to HIS efforts. I am proud to submit this application on behalf of Michael, a textbook NAB Auskicker.”
Congratulations Michael.
