On Tuesday 8th September the Riddell District FNL was advised by the Northern FNL that they were meeting with representatives of the Kilmore FNC that evening to discuss an application by the Kilmore FNC to join the Northern FL Division 3 competition in 2016.
As a consequence of that meeting, the RDFNL understands that the NFL will recommend to their member clubs that they accept any application lodged by the Kilmore FNC to join their competition for 2016.
It goes without saying that the Riddell District FNL regards the Kilmore FNC as an important and highly regarded member of our league and we were disappointed not be made aware of any such application by the Kilmore FNC. However, we respect the right of the Kilmore FNC to consider all options available to them for a long term and viable future, and we recognise the important role the Kilmore FNC plays in their community.
We are committed to working closely with the Kilmore FNC during the process that will now be followed, and we look forward to attending a meeting of the Kilmore FNC members that will be called to consider the merits of continuing their future in the Riddell District FNL or the Northern FNL, and we obviously remain hopeful that their future will continue to lie within the Riddell District FNL.
I can confirm that representatives of the Riddell District FNL and AFL Goldfields will be meeting with representatives of the Kilmore FNC on Monday 21st September, and we will not be making further comment on this matter at this point.
