The man who helped establish Collingwood's multicultural program has been appointed as the AFL's North Queensland development manager to be based in Cairns.
West Australian Graeme Pratt has spent time at the smallest and biggest footy clubs in the country and says he is excited to learn from what is regarded as a very forward-thinking organisation in the Far North.
His role oversees delivery of all game development programs in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Capricornia and Mt Isa and in part replaces Craig Starcevic, who now works exclusively with NEAFL clubs.
The role is also respnosible for developing the North Queensland strategy, providing opportunities for talented players and supporting leagues and clubs.
"I remember hearing good things about the AFL Cairns comp while I was teaching in London and in Victoria the association was regarded as very forward-thinking," he said.
"I've only been here a week (so I'm not going to make any grand announcements).
"But a key emphasis will be to continue the building of relationships with all stakeholders, partners and volunteers who provide pathways for boys and girls to learn about healthy lifestyles, friendships and team-work."
