South Cairns spearhead Paul Smith has rocketed to the top of the AFL Cairns goalkicking leaderboard after bagging 10 goals in Saturday's 108-point mauling of Cairns City Lions.
Fresh from a two-week break, the Cutters were at their awe-inspiring best at Fretwell Park with Smith doing the brunt of the damage in the 26.16 (172) to 9.10 (64) victory.
Smith's tenth goal came after the siren, and his day out was a refelction of the dominance enjoyed by the South Cairns on-ballers, according to coach Daniel Lock.
"His supply was pretty good," he said. "Just the workrate of the midfielders and half-bank flankers gave him every opportunity, and he took them all.
"When you get the big fella one-out he takes some stopping.
"He's got a good set of mitts and doesn't miss too often."
It was Smith's second double-digit tally this season - remarkably he has only been held to less than three goals on one occasion, against the Cairns Saints in April, when he went goal-less.
But 10 majors weren't enough to win him best player honours ahead of Josh Hegarty and Matthew Anning, who Lock said were "unstoppable".
"The boys really worked hard across the board.
"I was saying that they were champing at the bit and they proved that to me in the first five minutes.
"That two weeks might have been a good little break for us, I think.
"To me it looked like it just brought the hunger back."
