Sitting on 996 AFL Cairns majors, Walsh is well within reach of a milestone said to be almost unheard of in regional football.
He had kicked four against Port Douglas last weekend before spending the final quarter on the bench.
But Walsh said he was doing everything to be fit for the clash, with family and friends expected to fill Watson Oval in anticipation of the feat.
“I was probably 50-50 on Monday and I’d say 70-30 now,” he said.
“I really want to play and basically just get it over with but I will be making a smart decision about it and still have to prove my fitness.”
Walsh has averaged about six goals a game since moving from Ballarat in 2005 for what was supposed to be a cameo season.
Earlier this year he celebrated his 150th game with the club and captained North Queensland to victory against South Queensland, booting seven majors.
