Round 4 Review
BITS Vs Brothers
Hate them or love them, every year the Saints seem to have a well oiled unit on the paddock, you can have as many good players as you like but without well organised coaching, administration and volunteer staff it’s good for nothing, and once again they have hit their straps this year sitting on the top of the table after three rounds.
The Roos have had a shaky start to the last couple of seasons after winning both reserve and senior Grand Finals in 2010, but to Brothers credit they somehow seem to still show a bit of mongrel on the day and are never disgraced. Playing the Roos at home can be a mixed bag most of the time and Bits should definitely be prepared to bring their A game.
If the Saints travel well I predict BITS to win by 55 points.
Gladstone Vs Panthers
The Muddies have had the shakeup they’ve needed for years, a new group of young senior players, good sponsorship and the General to lead them in the right direction, Head Coach Bob Maher. After two big blowout wins and one decent loss, Big Bobby will be scratching his head to see where his boys fit into the food chain.
Panthers have got their Coach back, had a good pre season at the hands of Joel Ralph and were confident heading into season 2012, after big defeats in the first two rounds they managed to give Brothers a touch up last round which will have them confident heading into round four.
The Rockhampton Cricket Ground is a great oval to play on, with plenty of supporters I predict The Muddies by 40 points.
Glenmore Vs Yeppoon
The Bulls have managed to keep their young talent over the years and it is paying off for them now, this year it isn’t just the “Payne show” there are gun athletes in every position, old boy Murray Payne has stepped into a Coaching role, and with his VFL experience the young side are loving it and there is a really good feeling around the club.
The Swans haven’t had the best pre season, and finding a head coach four weeks before round 1 wouldn’t help either. A lot of young players are stepping up to the senior ranks and performing well which is great to see. It’s time for the leadership group at Yeppoon to show some initiative. If the Swans are to get anywhere near the Bulls, they will have to keep their cool and show some serious discipline which normally costs them.
Bulls by 50 points.
