Amanda ready for FIBA Challenges

It is with great sadness that Diamond Valley basketball says goodbye to long serving player & coach Amanda Jenkins, who leaves us to take up a great opportunity with FIBA Oceania based in Canberra. Amanda will join the FIBA Oceania’s sports administration team that will see her heavily involved in International events in the Oceania region.

"Amanda has been a great servant and a piece of the DV furniture since I can remember both playing for Apollo, into the Eagles program from bottom age 12’s through to the U/18’s. Taking a year off for studies in Year 12, Amanda jumped right back into the game as a coach in the U/12 program and has been a tireless worker along with Jacqui O’Neill developing our U/12 girls." – Alan McAughtry

“One of the hardest parts about making this decision was the thought of leaving the club that I have called my family since I was 10 years old. The friendships, the tournaments, the grand final losses (I played in a few of those...), the coaches I loved and more recently the bonds I have created with the future stars of the Eagles are memories I will hold onto in our warm capital.  When I started at DV we were quite a small community club, and to see the domestic program and junior and senior programs grow to such strengths they are at now has been so amazing to see.  I will keep a keen eye on how the program is going from Canberra, and will look forward to bumping into Eagles playing in Australian colors during FIBA tournaments". – Amanda Jenkins

“In every club there are people who embody the fabric of the program, players, coaches the people and the general “Vibe” of the place. I see Amanda and I immediately think of Diamond Valley Basketball and all that it entails. Polite, a cheeky smile and fierce competitor with a passion to help young players, in particularly young girls succeed.

This is a rare quality indeed, but to have this quality in one so young is extremely special. I know Amanda’s team of players and parents will miss her, the coaching staff and all at Diamond Valley will miss Amanda, but also wish her the very best in the future and we look forward to having her back at DV when the opportunity arises". – Alan McAughtry
