MUNRO ADDS STRENGTH TO EAGLES LINEUP

Our Big V Basketball State Championship Women have been very lucky and resourceful to add the talents of Hayley Munro to their roster.

With some of our young Eagles leaving late in the season to embark upon their U.S college journies, Head Coach Dee Butler had to act to add numbers to a roster that would be lowering from departures in the near future.

Enter Hayley Munro.

Once a Diamond Valley Eagle, Hayley Munro is a recognized ‘glue’ player – willing and able to do all the things needed for a team to win. Hayley has been a productive role player in the WNBL, winning a WNBL Championship with the Bendigo Spirit Basketball and spending a couple of seasons with the Melbourne Boomers WNBL in recent years. She is a known rebounder, physical and gritty defender capable of bumping with players well outside her weight class and crafty scorer that flies under the radar. Hayley spent last season in the SEABL and we were very lucky that a player of her caliber was available at this time.

‘Hayley brings maturity and experience to our group after numerous years playing SEABL and WNBL. She is an extremely versatile player, and her physicality and smarts on defense have already been a great addition to the team’, Head Coach Dee Butler said.

‘We are lucky to have been able to get Hayley on board after she had the start of the season off, and I have no doubt she will continue to increase her form and provide a leadership role to our group as the season progresses.’

DVBA CEO Ross Wignell added ‘Bringing Hayley to the club has been a fantastic addition. She’s a proven performer in not only the Big V, but also has been a very handy player in the WNBL within the roles she’s filled. Her inclusion will add further experience and contribution to an already exciting group. We are very pleased and excited to see the positive impact Hayley has on our Women’s team moving forward’.

Watch Hayley in Eagles colors, along with the home debut of Belinda Snell, this coming Sunday at 1pm at Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness Centre in our grudge match against the Eltham Wildcats.
