CRUPI SIGNS ON WITH ST FRANCIS COLLEGE

The 4th athlete from the same Eagles year level, Meg Crupi, has signed her National Letter of Intent to join the ST. FRANCIS COLLEGE ATHLETICS Terriers in Brooklyn, New York.

Meg Crupi, a Diamond Valley junior in both domestic and representative from U12s onwards will join the Terriers from next season. St Francis College are a Division 1 school in the Northeast Conference (NEC). The College itself has been in existence since 1859, has almost 3000 students from 80 different countries and is nationally and regionally ranked by magazines such as Forbes magazine and the New York Times as being one of the top baccalaureate colleges.

The Terriers went 7-22 last season, with 12 of those losses coming by 10 points or less. Crupi will add an injection of offensive firepower, especially from the 3pt line that will look to help St Francis turn some of those close losses into winnable games in the seasons to come.

‘Having witnessed the development of Meg from U14's, it is an unbelievable achievement, but more so a testament to her resolve to continue to work to get better’, Technical Director of Coaching, Alan McAughtry said.

‘Having missed some State teams and working through her pathway at DV and earlier in the NITP system with Ross Wignell, Meg worked on her shot and her defensive ability - but it is her IQ within the game that is a strength. From Daryl Megna in U14s, through to Dee Butler in the senior women Meg has been coached well and this is the result of both club and player working towards a goal that at times seemed insurmountable. It shows what a work ethic and a will to get better can result in – and I am very, very proud of Meg and her achievement’.

Meg is currently a member of our Big V Basketball State Championship Women’s team and is averaging 8.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in the early part of season 2016. Her best performance to date was a 16 point, 2 rebound, 2 assist and 2 steal outing in 19 minutes of play against the Melbourne Tigers last month.

DVBA CEO Ross Wignell adds ‘This is a fantastic result for Meg and a tremendous message to our younger players coming through our system - Persistence, patience and hard work will provide the best opportunity to reach your desired goal. Meg has done considerable work to improve her shot, adding to her confidence to attack the defense with her dribble. It has been great to witness her game go to the next level.’

We wish Meg the very best of luck in her U.S College journey !
