Woodville Warriors (79) defeated Central District Lions (48)

The Woodville Warriors Men defeated the Central District Lions by 31 points on the back of Luke Stanbridge's double-double at St Clair on Saturday night.

The Lions had the early upper hand in the first quarter but a 5 point lead quickly evaporated as the Warriors ended the first quarter on a 7-1 run to put themselves up by 10 after the first quarter. Daniel Sims (17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals) scored 7 points in the opening stanza which included throwing down an alley-oop off a perfect pass from Cameron Wilson.

After a quiet first quarter, Stanbridge was too much for the Lions interior defence as he scored 12 of his game-high 24 points in the second quarter. Stanbridge's scoring complemented his rebounding as he grabbed 6 offensive rebounds amongst his 12 for the game.

After the half-time break, the Lions lifted on the defensive end but wasn't able to convert on the other end of the floor and close the gap. An unsportsmanlike foul by Paul Joyce got Lions coach Scott Whitmore fired up at the call but unfortunately for the Lions they fell back by 22 when Darren Ng nailed a triple to end the third quarter.

The Warriors outscored the Lions 17-8 in the final quarter as the starters for both teams rested.
