Reid Leads Panthers To Victory
Eastern Mavericks (77) lost to South Adelaide Panthers (90)
The Panther’s men claimed a victory by 14 points (91-77), in a competitive match against the Mavericks at the weekend.
Coming off their first win for the season the Mavericks would have been hoping for a strong start, South Adelaide’s Bradley Reid had different ideas. The big man blocked Brad Davis’ initial drive to the basket, swatting the ball out of bounds. Reid went on to record 3 blocks, 5 rebounds and 9 points in the first quarter. At the other end Maverick’s Dylan Shorne led the charge with 6 points.
Curtis Scipio and Daniel Lean took over from the Mavericks backcourt claiming the second term and finishing the game with 19 and 16 points respectively. Shane Boal was finally getting his shots to fall as he and Reid scored over half of the Panthers points. Boal finished game high scorer with 27 points and 12 rebounds, while Reid dragged down 17 boards and reached 20 points.
The Mavericks came within 5 points in the last period but costly fouls put the Panthers at the line, they sealed the win thanks to their 23 from 35 free throws.
The win keeps South’s men in the hunt, sitting just outside the top 5 on percentage.
