Howard Leads Panthers Past Warrior Women

Woodville Warriors (56) lost to South Adelaide Panthers (74)

Janae Howard scored 27 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the South Adelaide women over the Woodville Warriors, 74-56, at St Clair on Saturday night.

The Panthers kept going back to Howard in the paint for the whole game as she showed off an array of hooks, spins and jump shots as South Adelaide put in a great performance in the final quarter to close out the game.

The visitors out-scored the Warriors 23-11 in the final 10 minutes due to Howard's brilliance inside and the defensive effort at the other end of the floor. The Panthers forced Woodville into a poor shooting performance, making just 31% of their shots for the game.

The Warriors were led by Katherine Perkas with 17 points and 10 rebounds, Ashleigh White added 12 but Carmen Reynolds only scored eight on 3-of-17 shooting.

Woodville kept themselves in the game up until the final quarter. However, a Hajnal Nagy jumper put South up by 10 for the first time in the game less than two minutes into the fourth and the Warriors couldn't respond to the following run by the Panthers.

Howard, Nagy, Spencer and Cunningham all chipped in as South Adelaide outscored the home side 15-5 to blow the lead out to 20 with three minutes left in the game.

Spencer finished with 20 points, Nagy added 6 points and 8 rebounds, Cunnigham had 7. Mahony had an impact despite only scoring two points. She tallied 10 assists, 8 rebounds and 3 steals.

South Adelaide are now 6-0 when playing on the road.
