Woodville Women Easily Handle Central Districts For First Win

Woodville Warriors (108) defeated Central District Lions (55)

The Woodville Warrior Women have claimed their first win of the season with a huge 53-point victory over visiting Central District Lions at St Clair on Saturday night. The game quickly got away from the Lions as the Warriors opened with a 10-0 run and were relentless in their pursuit for their first “W” of the season.

Neither team had registered a win so far this season and Woodville put in an overwhelming performance and both ends of the floor to keep their opponents on the bottom of the ladder.

The Lions didn't score until 6:38 left in the first quarter and was powerless to stop Woodville being aggressive. The Warriors continually attacked the basket and got to the free throw line to extend their lead and take complete control of the game.

Carmen Reynolds led the way for the Warriors with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Katherine Perkas added 15 points and 5 rebounds for the home side.

Brianna Wedding had a big game on the glass with 17 rebounds for the Lions. But it was only her and Aimee Herriman who managed to reach double digit scoring for the Lions with 11 each.

A 21-8 third quarter by Woodville blew the game out even more and the Warriors were not letting off the gas pedal as they continued their fullcourt pressure and forced Central Districts into 31 turnovers for the game.

A 20 point advantage in the final quarter led to the large winning margin as the home crowd cheered on their side to an emphatic victory.
