Flames' Streak Continues
Norwood Flames (74) defeated North Adelaide Rockets (67)
With two unbeaten sides squaring up in this match someone's record had to be spoiled and the reigning premiers, the Norwood Flames, were once again too strong for arch rivals the North Adelaide Rockets.
The Flames made an early break for it, doubling the Rocket's score at half time 24-12. However the Rockets returned the favour in the second narrowing the margin to only 3 points at half time, 38 - 35 in Norwood's favour. The Flame's aggression for possession served them well allowing them to limit the Rocket's opportunity to score in the final third and create themselves some breathing space in the form of an 8 point lead at the final break. The final quarter was an even battle but the Flames only gave up 1 point from their lead, closing out the game 7 points in front.
Norwood tallied 40 rebounds for the match compared to 27 for the Rockets and took 91 shots to North's 73. Both sides put out trademark quality performances and their shooting percentages were fairly even but Norwood played the logic of the more you have the ball, the more you shoot, the more you shoot the more you score and that simple equation translated to another win for the Flames.
