Sturt Sabres (59) lost to West Adelaide Bearcats (71)

West Adelaide have claimed a see-sawing affair over Sturt, defeating the home side, 71-59.
 
Coming into the match with just two wins, the Bearcats seemed desperate to keep touch with the top five.
 
While the Sabres took a 3-point lead into the first break, there were countless lead changes throughout the match, with the Bearcats ladies capitalising on their chances late in the game.
 
It was another case of missed opportunities for the Sabres women who controlled the match tempo for the first three quarters but failed to do any real scoring damage, converting a mere 34% from the field.
 
In just her fourth match for the club, US Import Natalie Novosel did everything she could to keep the Sabres in the contest, leading all scorers with 19 points, 9 assists and 7 boards.
 
Novosel, who joined the CABL after stints in the WNBL, WNBA and Romania has been a shining light for the Sabres, leading the club in scoring, assists and rebounds.
 
However, despite the Sabre’s best efforts, the Bearcats Megan McLeod and Kate Shierlaw continued their strong start to the season, combining for 32 points, 11 rebounds and 4 steals.
 
Composed at both ends of the court, West Adelaide out hustled the Sabres in the final period and secured their third victory for the season from the foul line, converting on 13 from 14 opportunities.
