Central Districts Lions (46) lost to North Adelaide Rockets (87)
The Central Districts Lions are still win-less for 2014 after a loss to the North Adelaide Rockets at Starplex on Saturday.
The table topping Rockets blasted off early, blitzing the first quarter 26 -11. With a comfortable lead established early on, the Rockets were able to share their court time around the roster and newcomers to the side Opal Mader, Taylor Goggins and Sophie Byrne and were able to up their minutes for the season.
North Adelaide continued to dominate for the rest of the game.The Lions managed to match the Rockets on the boards with 45 and 46 respectively but the unbeatable machine that is North Adelaide proved an overwhelming unit for the Lions who gave up 30 turnovers while the Rockets took 21 steals . Central's shooting accuracy didn't help matters, the Lions sunk just 24% of their field goals and none of their 10 three point attempts.
A crushing 3rd quarter saw the home team enter the final period with an insurmountable 40 point deficit and the Rockets added another point to the margin by the end of the game.
Aimee Herriman led the Lions in scoring with 13 points, Coby Rodda added 11 and Samantha Saunders chipped in with 8 points.
Jamie Lee Peris made a double double for the Rockets with 10 points and 15 rebounds, she also got away with 5 steals for the night. Shannon Mckay top shot a game high 15 points, and Jo Hill contributed 14 points also.
