Flames continue perfect season

The Norwood Flames have kept their perfect season alive with a victory over the West Adelaide Bearcats, winning 75-64 at Adelaide Arena on Blockbuster Sunday.

The Flames looked in control of the game in the first half with some excellent ball movement that led to a number of open looks and easy buckets. Most of Norwood's point came from mid range as Marisa Stabile and Jess Foley had the shooting touch early, Foley especially was able to stretch the defence with three triples for 14 first half points,

West weren't able to overcome the swarming Norwood defence in the first half. The Bearcats had trouble holding onto the ball and weren't able to find their shots as the Flames shut down the inside.

However, West was able to turn it around at the start of the second half as they prevented Norwood from scoring for the first five minutes of the third. The Bearcats also looked different on the offensive side of the floor with Anna Carbo and Rachel Herrick taking advantage of the lapses in the Flames' defence.

Carbo kept attacking the rim while the height of Herrick proved to be an issue for the Flames and West was able to get themselves within striking distance in the final quarter.

Norwood struggled to make shots before Foley scored six straight points for the Flames and pushed the Bearcats further back. Despite West's much improved defence in the second half, Norwood was able to hold them off after a few mistakes from the Bearcts and a couple of timely baskets from the Flames.

Carbo led West with 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists while Herrick finished with 10, Kate Shierlaw added 12 points and six rebounds for the Bearcats.

Foley led all scorers with 21 points including 3-5 from deep, while Stabile scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Taylor Ortlepp added 17 points and seven rebounds in the win.
