By James Woite

Central District Lions (2-3) v Norwood Flames (4-1)

After commencing 2016 with three consecutive defeats, the Lions can rise to .500, if they can extinguish the Flames at Starplex.

The Lions, behind 24 points from Daniel Carlin, overcame Eastern 91-80 last week.

The Flames got 27 points from Ian O’Boyle, as they triumphed 86-70 over North.

The Flames swept the Lions 2-0 in last season’s series.

West Adelaide Bearcats (3-2) v Woodville Warriors (3-2)

In the match of the round, the Warriors can make it four straight victories, if they can knock off the Bearcats at Port Adelaide.

Last round, the Warriors avenged their 2015 Preliminary Final home defeat to Sturt. With Nathan Kirksey scoring 28 points, the Warriors succeeded against the Sabres 80-63.

The Bearcats also enter this one on the back of winning form, after clawing their way past South 87-66. Demetrius Perkins scored 26 points.

The Warriors’ 3-1 series win over the Bearcats last season included a victory in the Qualifying Final.

Eastern Mavericks (0-5) v Sturt Sabres (3-2)

A loss against the Mavericks at Adelaide Hills would make it three defeats in four games for the Sabres.

In their most recent game, the Sabres went down by 17 to Woodville. Jan Warbout scored 16 points.

The Mavericks are still yet to win a game in 2016. They suffered an 11 point setback to Centrals, despite 22 points from Haydn Barns.

The Sabres swept the Mavericks 2-0 last season.

North Adelaide Rockets (3-2) v Forestville Eagles (2-3)

Both the Rockets and Eagles will be looking to bounce back from disappointing Round 5 defeats, when they meet at Hillcrest.

The Rockets got 19 points from Cody Rhorer, but it was not enough to prevent a 16 point loss to Norwood.

Adam Doyle scored 25 points against Southern, yet the Eagles still fell by 19.

The Rockets won last season’s series with the Eagles 2-0.

South Adelaide Panthers (0-5) v Southern Tigers (5-0)

It will be winless against unbeaten, when the Panthers host the Tigers at Marion.

The Panthers lost by 21 to West in Round 5, even though Trent McKenzie scored 15 points.

The Tigers are continuing to put their history of bottom five finishes behind them in the best way possible. A side that won just three games in 2015, the Tigers have five already this year, after overcoming Forestville 107-88. Alexander Starling scored 26 points.

Last season’s series between the Panthers and Tigers ended in a 1-1 tie.
