3X3 basketball is coming to Napier in the Hawke’s Bay
Following on from a successful first year, the Burger King 3X3 Tour is returning to Napier on Saturday 31 January 2015. The fifth league of the Tour will be held at Napier Intermediate School,Jull St Napier.
The Burger King Tour will run from 9 November 2014 through to 14 March 2015 and will visit 12 locations
throughout New Zealand. This is an increase of 2 tournaments over last summer.
3X3 (pronounced 3-on-3) is fast becoming a global sensation, with a professional world circuit played in some of the world’s most iconic locations. The Burger King 3X3 Tour is endorsed by FIBA and sponsored by Burger King, who have a long history of supporting Basketball in New Zealand.
The Burger King 3X3 Tour is open to all players and will have U14, U16, U18 and Open for both men’s and women’s. A unique feature of FIBA endorsed 3X3 events is that players build an online profile at 3X3Planet.com in order to enter events. “This means that players can then enter events, track their results and compare their ranking to their friend’s and other 3X3 players,” said Basketball NZ CEO, Iain Potter. “This is particularly appealing to younger adults who can enjoy the game both on and then off the court after the game is over as 3X3Planet.com is also available as a mobile app”, he said.
Online registrations will close on Friday 30 January. There may be on-the-day registrations, depending on availability. So, get online on at http://www.basketball.org.nz/competitions/3x3/ to create your profile and register to play.
Winners will receive prizes and as well there will be a slam/dunk competition where ballers can showcase their dunking skills.
