Inaugural Coaching Congress Coming to Christchurch

Basketball NZ in association with the Olympic Solidarity, Sport NZ and Basketball Pacific are proud to announce the inaugural National Coaching Congress.

We are very fortunate in engaging three quality coaches for this coach education initiative. The congress will consist of two coaching clinics. The first will be held in Christchurch on April 3 and 4 at Cashmere High School and will feature coaching legends from the USA, Jim Foster, and from Australia, Patrick Hunt.

Jim Foster:

2013 Basketball Hall of Fame inductee and current Head Coach of the Women’s University of Chattanooga Tennessee.team, Jim has had 35 years of Head Coaching experience in coaching at St Josephs, Vanderbuilt and Ohio State. He has filled a number of assistant/head coach roles with USA Women’s representative teams with a coaching record of 27-4 and five gold medals and one bronze. Jim has won numerous College Conference ‘Coach of the year’ awards and is the current chair of the Women’s Junior National team Committee.

 

Patrick Hunt:

Patrick is the current President FIBA World Association of Basketball Coaches. Patrick lead Australia’s Junior Men’s AIS Basketball programme for a number of years as the Manager for National player and coach development. He was also Head Coach for the National Intensive Training Programme from 1993 – 2008. Pat has also been an Assistant/Head coach for the Australian Emu’s and Boomers. He is currently the Senior Consultant for the AIS High Performance Coaches, working with coaches representing Australia at the Olympics and World Championships.
