Anzacs remembered at The Cougar Den

In attendance was Ian Butcher, the President of the Bentleigh RSL, who are proud sponsors of the McKinnon Basketball Association. World War II Veterans Mr Pat Leydon and Mrs Edith Stakelum were also guests of the service, as well as RSL member Miss Jenni Lee. The captains of the Under 18 boys and girls Cougar Representative Teams carried the Australian flag during a moving service led by Ian Butcher. Cougars’ Head Coach Matt Brooks believed it was important for the family-orientated club to remember those who have served as “it is important to commemorate Australia’s proud history and recognise those things bigger than the game of basketball”.

Comment Guidelines: The SportingPulse Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
