Geelong Basketball League Division 1 Round 2 Wrap

A 73-all draw between Christian College and Tigers has highlighted round two of the Geelong Basketball Division 1 men’s season on Tuesday night.

A five-man Eagles’ roster were able to stay in the contest thanks to significant contributions from SEABL Supercats’ duo Nathan Friend (25 points) and Keith Harrison (24).

Tigers had four players in double-figures, with Dion Smith (18 points) the star, while Ben Scannell and Rob Harding both had 17 points.

Vytis proved too good for Sharks 74-56.

Michael Rebula was impressive for the Knights with 20 points, while Andy Przybylkiewicz (15 points) and Steve Wiasak (14) ensured he had substantial support.

Dane Bow paced Sharks with 17 points.

Veteran big Marty De Lange turned in another vintage performance in Try Boys 65-55 result over Pivot City.

He finished with 19 points, while Paul Hutchison chimed in with 16 for the Bears.

Steve Packer led the Pivotonians with 16 points, while Jason Reardon had 11.

An even team performance has helped Pivot City to a narrow 59-57 win over Try Boys in women’s Division 1 action.

Four players scored in double-figures, with Ebony Tannouri’s 14 points and 13 from Fiona Johnson cancelling out the game-high 27 scored by the Bears’ Anisa Sijersic.

A 22-point-haul from Big V Lady Supercats’ veteran Vicki King hasn’t been enough for YMCA, which suffered a 68-53 loss to Rovers.

Despite missing Kylie Morrissy, Rovers had too many scoring options for Y to handle.

Lauren Bellgante (15 points), Ellie Stevens (12) and Lana Ryder (10) all made the most of their opportunities.
