GBL Winter Championship Division 1 Wrap- Round 9

TOWERING SEABL Supercat Liam McInerney has produced arguably his best performance at Division 1 level, scoring 32 points in GBL Winter Championship action on Tuesday night.

His performance guided Christian College to a comfortable 107-64 win over Vytis.

The match was all but over as a contest at quarter time after the Eagles outscored the Knights 26-9.

Six of Christian College’s seven-man roster scored in double figures, with Jackson Bentley next best with 24 points.

Vytis, who went into the clash without Steve Wiasak, was best served by 16 points from Andy Przybylkiewicz and 15 from Rhys Lloyd.

Pivot City maintained its two-point advantage at the top of the ladder with a 63-50 result against Sharks.

The Pivotonians outscored Sharks in every quarter on their way to a seventh win for the season.

Matt McCormack led the scoring for Pivot City with 17.

Dane Bow was best for Sharks with 14.

Lara joined YMCA and Sharks on 19 points after a 90-66 victory over Try Boys.

Trailing by seven points at the main break, the Giants turned the contest on its head with a 30-7 third quarter to take a 16-point advantage into three-quarter time.

Youngster James Box was the star. 21 of his 23 points came from beyond the three-point line, providing an impressive contrast to the inside game of veteran big man Ash Cannan (22 points).

Paul Hutchison led the Bears with 25 points, knocking six down three-point attempts of his own.              

Talented guard Olivia Cameron starred as Pivot City had the better of Sharks 73-53 in women’s action.

Cameron finished with 23 points in an impressive display as Pivot laid the foundation for the win with a 48-32 first half against the defending champs.

Sharks pulled to within six at three-quarter time after a 17-7 third period.

However, Pivot ensured they would claim the three points with an 18-4 last quarter.

As well as Cameron, Bianca Cheever (15 points), Shayna Poto (11) and Lauren Moloney (10) all scored in double figures.

Alex Duck again led Sharks scoring with 18 points, with Rebecca Lane contributing 14.

Dolphins maintained top spot on the ladder with a 71-60 win over Rovers.

After an even first quarter, Rovers appeared to be in control when they outscored Dolphins 17-7 in the second period to lead 32-25 half time.

However, Dolphins turned the contest back in their favour with a 28-14 third quarter.

Again it was Cortney Williamson who was the star. The SEABL Lady Supercats skipper poured in 26 points.

Lana Ryder paced Rovers scoring with 17 points, while Grace Parker dropped 16.

Lara claimed just its second win of the season with a 67-56 result against Try Boys.

The Giants outscored the Bears in every quarter to move a game clear of the bottom of the ladder.

Caitlin Shadbolt was the difference between the two sides, finishing with 23 points, while Ash Rozenfeld again scored consistently, shooting 13 points.

Teenage duo Angela Morris (19 points) and Kendyl Collins (12) kept Try Boys competitive.
