Braves Sign Hawk for 2016

The Bendigo Braves Basketball Club is pleased to announce that Illawarra Hawks point guard, Kevin White has signed on for the 2016 South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) season.

The 6’2” point guard, who averaged sixteen minutes per game throughout the 2015/16 National Basketball League (NBL) season with the Hawks, will be a welcome inclusion to the line-up, which will be without veteran guard, Kevin Probert for the first time in ten years.

White, who’s 28, has played in the NBL for the last five seasons, spending four years with the Sydney Kings before moving to the Illawarra Hawks during the 2015 off-season. White was awarded the Sydney Kings Defensive Player of the Year for the 2012/13 season and again for the 2014/15 season.

White is no stranger to the Bendigo Braves or the SEABL competition. He played the 2015 season with the Hobart Charges, where he averaged 14 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists per game.

Bendigo Bank Braves Head Coach, Ben Harvey is excited about the addition of Kevin White to the line-up, which has gone 2-2 during the pre-season.

“Kevin will bring great leadership, experience and defensive pressure to the line-up and with Jeremy Kendle will be one of the most frightening backcourt combinations in the League” stated Harvey.

“I am really happy with how the team has developed over the pre-season, and our younger players will only get better by having someone with NBL experience like Kevin around them” said Harvey.

White, is keen to play an active role both on and off the court with the Bendigo Braves in 2016.

“After speaking to Ben Harvey, I knew I was the right fit for the club” stated White.

“I hope that I not only get the job done on the court, but that I also play an active role in the development of the younger players in the team and pass on some of the knowledge I have obtain during the last five years in the NBL” stated White.

White will arrive in Bendigo on Monday 21st March to meet his new team mates and prepare for the start of the 2016 SEABL season, which commences on Friday 1st April, when the Bendigo Bank Braves take on arch rivals Ballarat at the Minerdome.
