Australian Gems Basketball Coach to conduct clinic in Bendigo

Current Australian Gems Basketball Coach (U19 National Womens team), Paul Gorris is coming to Bendigo on Sunday 31 January to conduct a Coaching Clinic on behalf of the Bendigo Basketball Association (BBA) and the Bendigo Bank Junior Braves.

Gorris will run the session in conjunction with former Australian Opal (Australian Womens National Basketball team) and Womens National Basketball Association (WNBA) player, Kristen Veal.

Veal was the youngest ever athlete to play in the WNBA, with the American League, rated as the best League in the World.

Thanks to the BBA and the Bendigo Stadium, the clinic is FREE to all interested coaches.

The Clinic will cover ball handling drills, shooting drills, an introduction into the on-ball game, team offence concepts, style of play and an introduction into defensive transition.

Bendigo Basketball, Director of Coaching and Development, Jonathan Goodman is exciting about the opportunity that has presented itself for local coaches.

“It’s not every day you have coaches the calibre of Gorris and Veal, willing to come to Central Victoria, give up their time, and share their knowledge and experience with budding local coaches” said Goodman.

“This clinic will provide local coaches with an opportunity to learn from two of the best and most experiences coaches in women’s basketball in the country, which would be invaluable for the development of our local domestic and representative team coaches“ stated Goodman.
